Post subject:  Nicholas Georgiadis dies

Nicholas Georgiadis has died from pneumonia. He was the designer for such fine MacMillan productions as 'Romeo and Juliet'. <P>Here is the ROH press release:<P> <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>It is with great sadness that The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera have been informed that the designer Nicholas Georgiadis has died after a short illness on Saturday 10 March. <P>Nicholas Georgiadis was born in Greece and studied architecture in Athens and New York. In 1953 he came to London to study at the Slade School of Fine Arts. His first designs for the theatre were in 1955 for Kenneth MacMillan's first work for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet - Danses Concertantes. Subsequently, they created House of Birds, Noctambules, Agon, The Burrow, The Invitation, Las Hermanas, Romeo and Juliet, Song of the Earth, Manon, Mayerling and The Prince Of The Pagodas. He followed this with new designs for the Laurentia - pas de six in January 1990 and most recently redesigned Romeo and Juliet for the 2000/2001 Season at the re-developed Royal Opera House.
