Laban news release New Postgraduate Certificate status and funding for Laban’s Community Dance programme
Laban is delighted to announce that it’s Professional Diploma in Community Dance Studies programme has been revalidated by City University as a Postgraduate Certificate: Dance in Community (PGC:DC).
The revalidation means that the programme now sits within the Higher Education national qualifications framework and is included in the portfolio of Laban programmes funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). As such UK and EU students will now pay almost 50% less towards tuition fees from September 2005. The fee level for 2005-6 has been fixed by Laban at £5,950 (one year) or £3,100.00 part time (two years). Applications for the PGC:DC are welcomed now, visit www.laban.org
or contact, Mark Tyler, Head of Admissions on +44 (0) 20 8691 8600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
The programme prepares students for a multi-faceted career in dance, and former students now work as performers, choreographers, teachers and administrators in the community, with dance agencies, dance companies and other arts organisations in the UK and overseas. Some modules on the Community Dance programme operate at Masters Level and graduates can earn 45 credits which may be included in the credit portfolio should a student want to pursue further study at M-level.
Programme Leader, Alysoun Tomkins explains the importance of the revalidation: “The PGC:DC programme is unique to Laban and is of great importance to the community dance industry. More and more employers are looking for guidance when employing community dance practitioners. This qualification will be recognised as a signpost to well-qualified individuals.” WWW.LABAN.ORG
