So Leslie Anne - how many sessions per week would you recommend for a (recreational) dancer to see significant benefit in class?

Gyrotonic: Feel the wave
by TERRI YABLONSKY STAT, special to the Chicago Tribune

The system consists of Gyrokinesis, usually taught in a group setting, and Gyrotonic, usually taught one on one using specially designed equipment.

Gyrokinesis gently works the joints and muscles through rhythmic and smooth, wavelike exercises. It begins with self-massage and simple breathing patterns to awaken the body.

A spiralling workout
the Malaysia Star

To understand linear movements, imagine the stiff, marching motions you make when you walk. According to Wayburne, Horvath felt that linear movements opposed the elements of nature.

“He realised that everything in life is spiral,” she says, right down to the spiral form of the DNA helix, the building material of all lifeforms.

This sounds very interesting. Does anyone know where it is taught in Australia?

Hi High Instep, I've asked one of our members to respond to your question on Gyrotonics

Hi High Instep,

there is a studio search facility on the official website www.gyrotonic.com.
'Studios' is one of the options right at the top of the site.
There are currently 9 entries coming up when you search under country 'Australia'. I hope there is a studio near where you are.

I have been doing Gyrotonic for 3,5 years now and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has done wonders for my flexibility, strenghts and overall wellbeing. Give it a try when you get the chance. Good luck.
