no charlene, not a website, that i'm aware of, but i did notice today that an excellent reference book which was out of print is now avilable thru amazon.com and currently has 10% off!
Image
it's '101 Stories of the Great Ballets'
by George Balanchine & Francis Mason, and it's only US $13:50.
amazon.com
note to any dance-lover who doesn't yet have this in their book collection: you should have - it's excellent. i am assuming, in advising the dance book connoisseur here (rather than the theatre-goer) that this re-issue continues to include the various chapters towards the back of the book on understanding ballet, history of ballet, etc. which are so valuable in themselves.
ah! postscript: quick turn of head to my bookshelf, alerts me that the book i had in mind is 'Balanchine's Festival of Ballet' (same authors) - containing 404 such stories (not just 101), so presumably the advertised book is a shorter version...
quite likely still worth having....
[This message has been edited by grace (edited October 11, 2000).]

there are also some great books out geared more towards children...I will have to check the titles at home.
We have two such books, one even came with a CD so you can hear a bit of the music from each ballet.
We will be seeing Don Q. soon. I don't know that I've ever seen a professional company do the entire ballet. I studied the book many moons ago in University and it is amazing to me how far you can depart from the original story and still use the same title!!! (I'm sure the ballet books would relate the "ballet" story)

This information on ballet.co.uk provides some background to various famous ballets.
http://www.ballet.co.uk/contexts/ballets.htm
