I would like to post a general question here, hoping that
someone may provide me with some relevant information.
My e-mail is homunculusplus@yahoo.com

Here is the question: an acquaintance of mine has recently
won a $3000 scholarship in Russia, for her modern dance
studies. She is free to chose any program that she likes
in Russia or abroad to spend a month (or however long the
stipend will suffice) in any ballet school of her choice.

Due to certain family circumstances, it would be great if
she could find a descent ballet school here in the Bay Area.
I myself live in the Bay Area and I would love to help her to
find relevant contacts, but the problem is that my own field
of expertise (theoretical physics) is rather far from ballet and
I don't even know where to start looking.

Would suggest some good schools of modern ballet dance
here in the Bay Area? How would one start looking for such
a program? Any suggestion will be very helpful.

Thanks in advance, Alex

Hi Alex and welcome to CriticalDance.

Congratulations to your friend - $3000 for typical Russians is a lot of money. It's easy to forget that there are others in Russia apart from the Armani/Gucci wearing oil bandits.

We have a forum further down the Board, "Studio" devoted to teachers and teaching, so I will move your post there and hope that at least one of our posters will be able to help you. Click on the link above this forum to jump to the new location.

The particular part of the Bay Area that you mean would be very helpful. I myself live there (here?) , and I know that I wouldn't want to commute to San Francisco even twice a week.
