Hi there - I was dancing barefoot and split my toe. You know, those evil little splits that happen on the bottom of your foot at the base of the toe. Anyway - I've had them before and of course they eventually go away, but I wondered if anyone had any hot tips for treating or preventing these splits.
As it is, I tend to try to let it get air and I have been wearing my little ballet slippers to protect it, but no adhesive bandages or tape or anything because it's never helped before, and HAS made it hurt more and be more of a mess in the past.
I really can't stand those little modern dance foot thong things, so don't even bother suggesting them to me, though others may be interested in hearing if they help.

AH - Priscilla, Priscilla - those things don't happen if you put on pointe shoes!!
Seriously , I have never had that problem - I wish I could help - have you tried some ice wrapped up so that the foot wouldn't get any moisture.? Would deaden it. I used to use a bag of frozen peas - it shapes itself to wherever you need it - and stays frozen for a long time.

[This message has been edited by Basheva (edited November 09, 2000).]

Cool (ice - ha ha) - I'll give some ice a try. Since it's more like a cut than a muscular thing it probably wouldn't help it heal, but might numb it up some - that alone would be nice.
Pointe shoes? Oh yeah - that'd solve ALL my problems...

I forgot to add in my above post - when the peas eventually defrost - well then you can eat them - it's an all around benefit - LOL
