So after reading many articles on the benefits of taking up ballet classes, i think id love to do it. Problem is, as a 28 year old male (with a bit of a belly) and the flexibility of a garden post i feel maybe my time has passed!

I think i'd get lots from the classes and i'd love to be a bit more flexible and maybe lose a few pounds, but i cant get over the possibility of me holding the others up!

and do i really have to wear tights? :(

You may be able to find an adult beginner class where the dress code is a bit more relaxed....perhaps being allowed to wear yoga pants? I think it's a great idea that you want to take ballet even if for the health benefits alone. I could do with some myself :D

I agree that a beginning adult class would be good for you. Workout wear is probably fine, just check with the teacher first.

It's like learning a new language, so you have to be both patient and persistent with yourself. I also recommend seeing dance. This helps get the "feel" of what it is you're trying to do and a better understanding.

I'm confident you'll enjoy the challenges and benefits ballet brings. Best wishes,
