I collect pointe shoes as a hobby and my latest purchase was a pair of Grishko Elites. They fit me well, but when I point my foot, the toe box seems to point up towards the ceiling. No matter how hard I point, those toe boxes wont follow the curve of my toes. They do seem very shallow and low profile and I wonder if that has something to do with it? I watched a few u-tube videos of dancers on pointe with Elites and none of them seem to be straight up on the box. Is this normal for the Elites? I find them very strange. No other pointe shoe that I have points to the ceiling when my toes are pointed downwards.......has anyone here tried them?

I'm not directly familiar with the Elites but do know that this brand of shoe tends to be a bit on the hard side, overall. Some of my students have done well by them, while others cannot use them.

Pointing upward sounds like the opposite of Gaynor Mindens, yes?

:D Yes, it does....when I look at the shape of the toe boxes on my other shoes, they all have natural downward curve along the top of the box. The Elites are like trying to pointe your foot wearing a canoe paddle taped on...LOL
