Two from Inside Bay Area. I'm familiar with the work of both these teachers. They know their stuff.

Teaching ballet is Peabody's passion
By Kristofer Noceda, STAFF WRITER
HAYWARD — Mention anything ballet and Peggy Peabody will light up.
Peabody, 47, has taken that same excitement for the performing arts and transformed her passion into a growing dance studio.

"Everyone has their off days, but Ms. Peggy always seems to be so happy when she teaches ballet, no matter what's going on in her life," said Sarah Martin, who has taken Peabody's classes for 15 years. "That's just part of her

passion, and when she starts dancing, her energy rubs off on all of us."

The Ballet Petit dance studio came about when Peabody began teaching children how to dance at her mother's preschool.

Montara ballet teacher's tutus a special gift
MONTARA — For the young ballerina, the little girl of 3 or so who dreams of a world of stages and bright lights, the elegant tutu is the key to her magical transformation.
At Susan Hayward's 29-year-old School of Dancing in rural Montara, north of Half Moon Bay, Hayward brings an unusually personal touch in creating tutus for her students, making the garments by hand and lending them out for performances and competitions.

Made of tulle, nylon and sequins, the classical ballet costume, its skirt fanning out wide on a wire hoop, makes the dancer seem to spin faster than she really is, showing off her strong legs and graceful leaps across the stage.
