Post subject:  training in Russian ballet schools

Hi
My 14 year old daughter who is studying classical ballet would like to go to Russia for a period of two weeks or slightly longer during a school holiday (maybe next summer) to study alongside Russian ballet students.
Does anyone know of a reputable school that offers places short term for foreign students?

I attended a program called 'Dance Open' in St Petersburg a few years ago and had a wonderful time. They have a program every spring, about a week long, and offer masterclasses everyday and a gala performance at the end. The participants were mostly from the US and Europe. As far as I know, they also have a summer program.

Hope this helps!

Hi Vaganova,
Sounds great! Do you happen to know who organises it as I've searched on google and can't find any info on 'open dance' st Petersburg.

Hello, aude...I don't know personally whom to contact for information, but here is a link to the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C. in the U.S. This, I believe, is considered to be a very good school focusing on Vaganova syllabus. Perhaps you might be able to contact them and get some information about summer programs, either with them or in Russia...

Hi Aude,

The website is www.danceopen.com

I, too, recommend contacting the Kirov Academy of Ballet.

Good Luck!
