Hello, bloempje...It sounds as though you are describing fifth position "bourrees" (pas de bourree couru en cinquieme). Pas de bourree couru is executed with the feet parallel...little running steps on pointe with the feet close together. If you are doing bourrees in fifth position, yes, you should "lead" with the back foot. This helps to maintain a beautiful fifth position as you glide across the floor taking very rapid, light, tiny steps sur les pointes. Be sure to allow your knees to bend slightly as you bourree...don't keep your legs rigidly straight.
