Has anyone heard of Classical Dance Alliance?
They are hosting a seminar at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in June/July

The teachers listed are Anna-Marie Holmes, Irina Kolpakova and Vladilen Semenov (classical dance), and Nina and Vladimir Kolesnikov (character).

The website is www.classicaldancealliance.org

Any thoughts?

Hello, vaganova, and welcome to Critical Dance! I had not been aware of Classical Dance Alliance...I took a look at the web-site and it seems to be a resource for both dancers and teachers. The upcoming Ballet Adriatico summer intensive has excellent teachers, one whom I know personally and others that have very good reputations, as far as I know. It's a pretty pricey SI, but it sounds wonderful if parents can afford it. The website, as far as teacher training, appears to be heavily weighted towards vaganova syllabus. The summer intensive in Italy features ballet history surrounding Cecchetti. It seems that the focus for teachers is fostering dialogue and creating methodology through teacher training and workshops to train today's dancers in the best possible manner. The website doesn't make very clear exactly what that methodology/pedagogy is...Is it a blend of the best of all the great "schools" or traditions (which, personally, I would prefer), or is is pretty much advocating vaganova method? Thank you for bringing this to the studio. It is interesting...

I decided to register for the seminar. I will definitely be able to post about it after I attend!
