ballet tech ohio students achieve 100% Audition/Acceptance!

Every year serious ballet students across the nation apply to nationally renowned dance companies to audition for a spot in what is known as the company’s “Summer Intensive.”

Claudia Rudolf Barrett, Founder and Director of ballet tech ohio, is pleased, to announce that her students who applied/auditioned enjoyed a 100% acceptance rate!

bto students Serena Sovdsnes and Nina Vrbancic received top honors in last weekend’s preliminary Youth America Grand Prix competition in Chicago. Nine year old Serena Sovdsnes was awarded Second Place in the Pre-Competitive division and will go to New York to compete in the finals (other winners are 11 years old!). Nina Vrbancic placed in the top twelve of the Junior Division and was also invited to attend the YAGP workshop in New York.

ballet tech ohio over the past decade has cultivated students who have been accepted to train in intensives at American Ballet Theater, Alonso King Lines, Chataqua Dance Institution, the Harid Conservatory, The Jeoffrey Ballet, Interlochen, The Kirov Academy, the Nutmeg Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Philadelphia’s Rock School and Suzanne Farrell’s Kennedy Center Summer Intensive”

bto’s own International Summer Dance Intensive (June 25th – August 10th) rivals the major schools in quality and personal attention, featuring renowned instructors including Aleksandr Bondarenko, Master Teacher of the men’s division of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Tong Wang, former principal with Ballet West and other companies, Karen Williamson, tenured modern professor of NIU (others tba), Janet Light, International dance critic and Peggy Campbell a registered nurse with a lifetime of experience in nutrition and injury prevention.

Concentrated studies followed by a theatre performance include ballet, pointe, pas de deux, repertoire, character, modern, jazz, pilates, floor barre, dance history, hair and make-up, nutrition and injury prevention (conducted by a registered nurse) etc.

We are thrilled that Mr. Bondarenko will return this year – and with one of his proteges, Artum Ovcharenko, who joins the Bolshoi Ballet this fall!

During ballet tech ohio’s Summer Intensive, accepted dancers will be taking class with respected professionals, while reaching out into the international community. Sowing the seeds which will lead to exciting collaborations while offering budding opportunities to learn and grow!

If that’s not enough exciting news, ballet tech ohio will be holding our first annual “Russian Collaboration Celebration”.

The event will feature a theatre performance by summer intensive participants, a “Parents Appreciation Ceremony” and a small fundraiser to help toward funding ballet tech ohio’s visit to Russia during our 2008 Summer Intensive!

Whether you are seeking a school which offers prestigious credentials toward a professional career, or you merely wish to take some dance classes, ballet tech ohio continues to appreciate its stellar reputation as the Gold Standard for quality dance education, bar(re) none.

Additionally, ballet tech ohio's dancers will perform Barrett’s choreography in the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra's upcoming production of, "My Many Colored Days" to the inspiring score by Richard Einhorn and based upon Dr. Seuss' book of the same title.

The performance takes place on March 3rd at 1:00PM at the Lebanon Junior High School Auditorium, located at 100 Miller Road, in Lebanon Ohio. Early bird attendees will receive a free copy of the popular Dr. Seuss book, "My Many Colored Days,' (provided by the LSO).

Please, be sure to check our website daily, and read future newsletters to keep abreast of all our upcoming novel and exciting programs and collaborations.

Founded in 1993 by Claudia Rudolf Barrett, ballet tech ohio provides students with the opportunity to develop performance skills and activities that are essential to the growth of a professional dancer.

Ms. Barrett's vision for ballet tech ohio remains to have a first class school that nurtures the dancer in mind, body and spirit and cultivates respect for the art of dance.

ballet tech ohio - first and best!

We're glad to hear of the success - and let's continue this discussion in one of our student forums since this forum is for discussion of performances and dancers.
