group mime within the classroom environ. is important to me because:

1. it promotes discussion, sometimes healthy debate withing the classroom

2. Helps students to understand their own creative, dramatic, choreographic and co-operative skills.

3. build rapport withing the classroom

4. improves performance skills.

5. promotes movement and acting skill.

I would love to hear from any/everyone their thoughts on including mime into a balletic curriculum and what mime means to them. cheers :)

I love seeing mime, and from the very brief exposure I've had to it in class, I think I would really like learning it, too. It's such a distillation of one's stage presence and ability to communicate and project, because there's nothing to hide behind. As first-time learners, we did find it hard to keep a straight face through some of the dialogue, though. :)

Hi Andre.

Mime also provides a connection to the history of the ballet. especially the great story ballets of old that we seldom see being choreographed today.

What say You? :D
