Think it's easy being a 'Nutcracker' Mouse King? Think again

Tulle and toe shoes are one thing. Try dancing the role of the "Nutcracker" villain, half-blind inside your giant mouse head, while toy soldiers attack and the audience cheers for your opponent, that tiresome nut-chomping hero who gets all the glory.

But Aaron Orza and Omar Shabazz wouldn't have it any other way. Playing the Mouse King is, well, awesome.

Fun...Well, I remember having to alternate Mouse King and Snow Queen years ago performing as a young teenager with Ballet Celeste in San Francisco! One show, Snow Queen...next show, Mouse King...

That is a big role discrepancy. So which was more fun?

Well, for me, the Mouse King was not something I was thrilled to perform. Snow Queen was the much preferred role! I gave that Mouse King my all, however...

I never did either role. I'm too short for both.
