ABHINAYA MARKS 25 YEARS OF SHARING INTRICATE ART FORM
By Mark Whittington
Mythili Kumar has taught hundreds of dancers the complexities of bharatanatyam, a classical style from South India. Of those, some 65 have put in seven or eight years of hard work necessary to make their arangetum, or solo debut.
``It's not an art form that you can learn in three months or three years. So many of our dancers have been with us for seven or eight years before they do their solo debut,'' Kumar says. ``It's a strong commitment that they have to make, that their family has to make.''
