After the finale, they exited into the lobby, pulling the audience along behind them. The effect was, indeed, like being swept into the crush of the streets for a South American carnaval.

More

I was surprised that the reviewer of this splendid sounding show didn't mention that Bahai is a regon of Brazil. Dance clearly forms a strong element of the culture there.
Here is a link to the thread on the London visit of the modern company Bahai Ballet.
http://www.criticaldance.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000232.html

A review from Berkeley:

quote:
Balé Folclórico de Bahia and the keyhole to heaven.
By Ann Murphy, East Bay Express

My parents made a pilgrimage to Paris and Rome as part of a large, corporate group tour long, long ago, when women still wore shirtwaist dresses with skinny belts, their thigh-to-waist girdles keeping the lines smooth, and men slicked back their hair with Vitalis and wore undershirts even in the sweltering summer. There is a picture of them at the fountain at the top of Via Nazionale, which is now little more than a traffic roundabout, but it was magically deserted then. There’s another of them dwarfed by the Eiffel Tower. They look bewildered and slightly wet, like fish out of water. But they always said they’d had the time of their lives. And because of how they talked about the Folies Bergères, I believed them.

More
[This message has been edited by Azlan (edited December 09, 2000).]
