Post subject: Shaolin Monks come to London

These Chinese Monks are in London courtesy of Mischa Bergese, ex-contemporary dancer and Director of the central production of London's Millenium Dome (the best bit). It sounds like a fascinating coalition of an oriental dance form and Western production values to produce a Riverdance type experience. Hopefully, it will be a lot better as Bergese is talented, as is Darshan Singh Bhuller who has acted as choreographer. Fingers crossed! Here's an article about the phenomenon from the Sunday Times.
http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/00/04/09/sticuldnc02002.html

Image
Angelica, as if by magic! The image above is not from the dance company, but from a Dutch Shaolin Kung-Fu site, but does show the dance quality of this martial art. Donald Hutera didn't go much on the story, but thought that the Monks themselves were something else.
http://www.the-times.co.uk/news/pages/tim/2000/04/19/timartthe01006.html
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited April 20, 2000).]
