From the New York Times:
Assembling a Gathering of Spirits to Dance
By MARTHA ULLMAN WEST

quote:
PORTLAND, Ore. -- MICHAEL CURRY believes in spirits: devils, angels, the ghosts of children and mountaineers, and most particularly the good spirits — an old logger, a scholar, a woman — who have been his constant companions since he was a shy 12-year-old growing up in a logging town in the southern Oregon mountains.
On Thursday, these characters and some others will make their debut at the Keller Auditorium here in three performances of a multimedia spectacle called "Spirits." The show's 10 episodes, linked by dance, music, text, performance art, puppets and spooky special effects, were conceived, designed and directed by Mr. Curry, the highly successful conceptual and technical designer. He was helped by some 65 people (including his wife, the textile artist Julia Hannegan, and his brother, Jeff Curry), who labored long hours in his two warehouse workshops in St. Helens, 30 miles from Portland.
Some busy choreographers — David Parsons, Moses Pendleton, Sylvia Hase, Jamey Hampton, Ashley Roland and Trey McIntyre — believe in "Spirits," too. Or at least they have had enough faith in Mr. Curry's talent and vision to make trips to St. Helens a part of their schedules. Mr. Hampton and Ms. Roland, the artistic directors and founders of the dance company BodyVox, are, like Mr. McIntyre, Portland-based, but they are on the road constantly.

(If someone feels this belongs in another forum - please feel free to move it)
