Here's something happening in the San Francisco Bay Area:

Celtic celebration and games honor great Scots

Mark Tarte
Contra Costa Times

SCOTLAND ... IT IS A LAND OF MOUNTAINS AND LOCHS inhabited by a tough and proud people. The country itself is part of Great Britain and occupies the northern half of the British Isles.

Just over 5 million people call themselves Scots these days, and what most people know of the country comes from movies such as "Braveheart" or stories about the Loch Ness monster. However, their influence on history, especially American and British history, is immense.

Well, next week you can learn a lot more about Scotland and its people through the first annual Livermore Scottish Games and Celtic Celebration. The games will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 15 and 16 at Robertson Park. more
