Writes Kaitlin Gurney in the Charlotte Observer, "Stomachs undulating with the beat of Persian drums, about 20 women in coin-lined scarves and baggy harem pants belly-danced in a mirror-lined dance studio at the Jewish Community Center. Bellybuttons popped forward out of sheer leotards with every pulse of the drums."
http://www.charlotte.com/partners/news/stories/docs/bellydance0720.htm

I like the bit at the end of this article where the instructor, Jane Field, is quoted as saying she enjoys teaching women to accept their bodies as they are. What a novel idea!
Azlan
PS - I'm not a woman but having been brought up by beautiful but strong women in my life, I can truly appreciate this sentiment.
