Post subject:  Workshops in Butoh

Hey all,
I'm an intern at a company called CAVE, in Williamsburg, NY.
My company is presenting our annual LUDUS series, in which we bring butoh masters from across the globe to New York to teach workshops, perform and participate in lectures.

If you are interested at all in Butoh, I would definitely check it out. The first workshop coming up is being taught by Hisako Horikawa. Here's some info:

Body Weather Butoh Workshops
with Japanese master Hisako Horikawa
You can choose between a 3 day workshop or a 10 day workshop

INTRODUCTORY SESSION (3 day)
DATES: September 8th – 10th
TIMES: Weekday 6pm -10pm, Saturday 10:30am – 2:30pm
COST: $198

For two decades Hisako Horikawa contributed to the development of the Body Weather Laboratory. A kinesthetic and movement research initiated by butoh dancer/farmer Min Tanaka. This comprehensive movement training offers open and incisive investigations to challenge physical limits and scale, evoke sense memory, and rigorously re-examine the body as a dynamic, transformative environment. Through relaxation and awakening of various parts of the body, students will focus on opening their bodies to receive from the outside world and cultivating their senses of the new discoveries that their bodies have absorbed.

INTENSIVE SESSION (10 day)
DATES: September 12th – 16th & 18th – 22nd
TIMES: Weekday 10am – 2pm, Sunday 10:30am – 2:30pm
COST: $588
This session will continue to deepen the material studies of the Introductory Session and will explore following themes:
Body without strength.
Body that still has some parts alive.
Body that is moved.
Body that lives in a space.

A deposit of $100 for the 3 day workshop and $200 for the 10 day workshop are required upon registration. Any registration without a deposit will not be accepted.

Can't make these sessions? Don't despair; the LUDUS program at CAVE is holding workshops all throughout the fall, taught by masters from across the globe. To learn more about Hisako Horikawa and our other teachers, and to register please visit www.CAVEarts.org or call (718) 388 6780
