Mavi Dance Announces

Clara Ramona in "Flamenco Blood on Tour"

Boston, MA

Boston in the middle of winter may be one of the coldest times of the year, but come January 2009, experience the fiery passion and heat of Flamenco as the show Sangre Flamenca En Gira ("Flamenco Blood On Tour" in Spanish) comes to town presented by Clara Ramona and Co...with guest artists Isaac and Nino de Los Reyes. This is no ordinary flamenco show but a significant one, as the title indicates, as this phenomenal mother and sons’ team shares their lifelong family heritage in dance.

From Marcia Siegel in the Boston Phoenix:
Quote:
Clara Ramona at BU - Styles show
Boston-based Mavi Dance produced the performances of Clara Ramona's "Sangre flamenca en gira" ("Flamenco Blood on Tour") at the Boston University Dance Theater last weekend, but the international dance group offered only two numbers on the long program. There are some interesting affinities between flamenco and the dance traditions of Eurasia's midsection, but we didn't get enough of Mavi to do more than taste the shared flavorings of Spain, the Balkans, and the Middle East.
