It used to be all that visitors to Hawaii wanted was sun, sand and a sweet-and-sour mai tai or two or four, usually chugged down during the ubiquitous Polynesian revue and buffet billed as a lu'au.
But the cultural renaissance that first bloomed among Hawaiians in the late '70s and early '80s is cross-pollinating more and more productions for today's culturally savvy tourists.

I've been to a few of these shows over the years. One of the things I liked about them were the diversity of body types among the dancers. You'd never see that in a mainland ballet company.
