Beyond the Rainbow explores Judy Garland in and out of the limelight

Creator William Randall Beard can't solve all of the problems with a docudrama about such an icon. Nevertheless, his technique allows the star's on- and offstage lives to flow naturally alongside one another. Two actresses portray her, with Jody Briskey as Garland, the onstage persona, and Norah Long as Judy, the troubled behind-the-scenes woman-child.
