This concert will bring together 3 different Turkish
comic archetypes under the theme of ‘Wisdom’ through
music and Turkish Sufism. In the first part of the
concert, accompanied by Mavi Dance, Dunya ensemble
will present the traditional music of the characters
of the famous Turkish shadow puppet theatre,
‘Karagoz and Hacivat’ through dance. This segment of
the concert will lead into a half composed/half
improvised ballet piece that will use one of the
stories of another famous Turkish comic archetype:
Nasreddin Hoca. The final section of the concert
will bring in the 60-piece PALS children’s chorus to
perform a fully original composition by Mehmet Ali
SANLIKOL written about a poor Turkish bald boy:
Keloglan.
