Teen defies gravity practicing circus aerial arts

ALEXIS HEDRICK hangs in the air, 20 feet above the ground, grasping a long swath of shiny, stretchy blue fabric. She climbs higher, using her feet and powerful arm muscles to drag and pull herself upward.
She does a number of dainty, quick, practiced moves with her feet and begins to wrap the fabric around her waist and through her legs. And then she dives. Her arms and legs spread out like a starfish, she flies down through the air, twisting once, twice, three times, until she comes to a stop, suspended just a few feet above the mat — her arms out, her cheeks flushed and a huge smile on her face.
