Another movie star taking on a musical theater role. I hope she can dance.

AMT's 2006-07 season to open with `Sweet Charity'
By Karen D'Souza
Like, omigod! Totally awesome '80s teen queen Molly Ringwald will star in the regional premiere of ``Sweet Charity'' as part of the American Musical Theatre of San Jose's 2006-07 season.
Ringwald -- whose cinematic oeuvre includes such brat-pack classics as ``The Breakfast Club,'' ``Sixteen Candles'' and ``Pretty in Pink'' -- will star as Charity, the big-hearted dance hall hostess in this classic Neil Simon-Cy Coleman musical. The actress steps into the role currently played on Broadway by another pop-culture princess of yore, Christina ``Married With Children'' Applegate, and famously created by Gwen Verdon in the original 1966 production.
