OK, this sounds like a fun event.

Time to move your feet to salsa beat
By Brenda Payton, STAFF WRITER
IF you get the sense Oakland is swaying this weekend, maybe turning and shaking, don't be alarmed. It's probably the effect of more than 2,000 feet dancing salsa.
Dancers, teachers and performers from across the country and as far away as China will converge on Oakland today, Saturday and Sunday for the fourth annual San Francisco Bay Area Salsa Congress.
"During the day there will be workshops on Afro-Cuban, cha cha and partnering," said Michelle Castro, who organized the congress with her husband and dance partner, Ricardo Sanchez. "Usually there are about 100 people per class. There's an afternoon show, children performers, international performers, a first show, a big-band show, a midnight show and 24/7 dancing until 3 a.m. People last all night. You don't get much sleep on a congress weekend."
