Lots of green is riding on `Color Purple'

In essence, "The Color Purple" is copying the "Wicked" model. After its very healthy six-month Chicago stand (a far bigger commitment than the one initially made by "Wicked"), other cities will be booked. And if sales don't live up to expectations, the show then will depart Chicago in the fall, with face saved. But if the Chicago sales prove buoyant, Sanders intends to keep the show here indefinitely.
