Tales of the Silk Road

If all it takes to make a great show is lots of colour and movement then this spectacular dance melodrama from China's Lanzhou Song & Dance Theatre troupe supplies them in abundance. The scale of the production is enough to dazzle - a huge ensemble, lavish costumes and set, and a highly derivative musical score. But this was not enough to disguise the poor level of ensemble dancing and the unimaginative choreography.
