Talent and energy abound in Alameda Civic Light Opera's current rendering of "42nd Street." Based on a novel by Bradford Ropes, this musical began life as a Warner Bros. movie extravaganza back in 1933. With book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin, and score by Harry Warren the show was adapted for the stage in 1980, sticking with the original setting in depression-era New York City.
