Nevin rightly points out that Summer Rain is part of our theatre culture, a work imbued with optimism and a classic that has "warmed the hearts of all who have seen it". And Enright's influence will be felt for many years through the efforts of emerging writers, directors and actors whose paths he crossed and for those, such as playwright Caleb Lewis, who wrote the melodrama Nailed, he mentored.
