An artistic Focus 4 the fusion of dance and installation
By Vicki Fairfax
July 30 2002
The Age
FOCUS 4, fortyfivedownstairs, 45 Flinders Lane, until August 4
Focus 4 raises all sorts of questions about space and ownership. Right at the start, when you walk in, you find yourself facing four large, intriguing but very different installation works.
There are Louise Rippert's families of white, spherical ceramic pots, clustered around a translucent, quilted, paper backdrop; Anna Finlayson's spliced sheets of black and pink paper, some with little windows like Advent calendars, and tiny boxes scattered across one wall, such as the remnants of a Christmas present-wrapping session; in another corner is Michael Sibel's cylindrical, steel cone; and in the centre of the room are Andrea Meadow's suspended muslin and latex shrouds, screen printed with biblical exhortations.
More
