Doug Hamby makes his dances like a good draftsman -- measuring time accurately, spacing dancers judiciously, allocating movement motifs generously, layering functional formulas atop his conceptual ideas. But with Hamby, it's the ideas that matter most. Sunday evening at Dance Place, his company, Doug Hamby Dance, brought out a half-dozen works, including two premieres but also one that's 20 years old.
