Knees, Elbows and Faces Conceal the Beating of Hearts
by GIA KOURLAS for the New York Times

"Look at Me (When I Talk to You)," a premiere for six dancers by Ms. Neuman, began before the show officially started. The set, a maze of gym mats placed vertically, accordion-style, camouflaged the stage while body parts - a knee, an elbow, the profile of a dancer's face - appeared between slivers of light. ...

But what began as moderately interesting soon succumbed to silliness.

What sets Artichoke apart is its ability to convey character, emotions, and relationships through — not merely despite — all the skillful circus tricks.

I couldn't help but notice that both reviewers were inpressed enough with the lighting -- a not inconsiderable feat in the white-walled Joyce Soho -- to mention it, but not impressed enough to name the artist who created it.

Artichoke's web site does not contain this information, either.
