Joseph Carman serves up a delight in this article on Mark Dendy's "Altogether Different Festival":<P> <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR><B>The Memory of All That</B><P>By Joseph Carman, The Village Voice<P>With the barking fervor of the fanatical televangelists he loves to parody, Mark Dendy prepares his latest work for the opening of the Joyce Theater's three-week "Altogether Different Festival" on January 10. Aided by choreographic oracle Phyllis Lamhut, Dendy orders his dancers to give him "heavy testicles and heavy ovaries" as they slink into a square formation to the slumming march beat of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P><B><A HREF="http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0101/carman.shtml" TARGET=_blank>More</A></B><P>

I'm not precisely clear on the affiliation of Phyllis Lamhut with this Mark Dendy project. Phyllis Lamhut is one of the most skillful, deeply resonant (for me)and mature choregoraphers on the NY scene. Although I haven't heard much about her work being produ ced these days. I know she was teaching choreography at New York University for a while. Anybody have any info? She did a piece at DTW many years ago called "Kleine Kunst" ("LIttle art")which was a masterpiece-in the Hanya HOlm, Mary Wigman tradition.
