Michael, do you know who wrote "The Vision of Modern Dance"?

To everyone who replied THANK YOU!
I have enjoyed your comments very much.
Caracas is a big center of Modern Dance, and in fact, one of our most prominent choreographers is a principal with the Limon Co. I will make it a point to attend quite a few shows this coming year, and I'll let you all know how I enjoy it.
Thanks again.
Cygnet

The Vision of Modern Dance was edited by Jean Morrison Brown, Naomi Mindlin, and Charles H. Woodford.
Brown was professor of dance at the University of New Hampshire in the USA state of New Hampshire.
Mindlin is/was a choreographer, and former dancer with Jose Limon.
Woodford is the son of Doris Humphrey, and coauthor of Dance is a Moment: A Portrait of Jose Limon in Words and Pictures.
The book was originally published in 1979 and again in 1998.

Let's see. College groups I can think of offhand whose fresh and new work gained success: Pilobolus from Dartmouth College; ODC from Oberlin College in Ohio who moved to San Francisco.
The exceptions seem to prove the rule. Any other college groups that went on to be recognized?

My 2 cents' worth about college performances: They're usually cheap, so if you have time to spend, why not? You may be pleasantly surprised. In the worst case, you can just leave.
OTOH, ballet tix can be had for $10...
But seriously, you can never tell with a college performance. Because there is not such a need to present a program that panders to a popular audience, you may sometimes get works that are really new and fresh. Sometimes however, you get a self-indulgent work. And sometimes, you get really bad stuff. It's hit or miss.

Ooh, this was one hot topic. Perhaps our new members might be interested in making a suggestion or two.
