The theatre programme has just been announced for this year's Manchester International Festival and features a rare opportunity to see Mikhail Baryshnikov on stage in the UK.

Pioneering theatre director Robert Wilson returns to the city with a new theatrical production, "The Old Woman". Developed with and starring dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov, and co-starring Willem Dafoe, The Old Woman, which follows the story of a struggling writer who cannot find peace with himself is an adaptation of the work of the same name by Russian author, Daniil Kharms.

Wilson's works are extremely visual, and integrate a wide variety of artistic media, including dance, movement, lighting, sculpture, music, and text in often unconventional ways.

"The Old Woman" is on at the Palace Theatre, Oxford Street, Manchester from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 July.

Tickets £23-£45.
