We want to inform you of an exciting new resource available to you: the Merce Cunningham minEvent Project 2010-2011 Resource Site at http://www.cornish.edu/merce <http://www.cornish.edu/merce> .

This year Cornish College of the Arts celebrates one of the creative giants of the Twentieth Century: Cornish alumnus Merce Cunningham (1919 – 2009). The Merce Cunningham minEvent Project is a year-long celebration that includes community events and campus-wide collaborations: performances, a multidisciplinary art exhibition, master classes, lecture-demonstrations, panel discussions, open rehearsals, workshops for youth choreographers, community outreach activities in partnership with local public schools and cultural institutions, and free online resources.

The Cornish resource web site offers you historical information about Merce Cunningham and his diverse artistic collaborators, and educational resources ranging from curricular suggestions to explanations of Cunningham’s key ideas that indelibly altered art-making and contemporary performance. The site also links you to informative multimedia web sites on Cunningham and tells you all you need to know about the free public minEvent Project events taking place on and off the Cornish campus through-out 2010-2011.

We hope these resources stimulate and inspire you, and prove useful to students. Please join us as we commemorate Cunningham’s artistic legacy, honoring his creative partnership with composer John Cage, and their association with Cornish and the Northwest. Please share this information with others who might be interested.
