They had to move quickly and unexpectedly, but all is well nevertheless. From the Contra Costa Times. Can we declare a faywa on evil anti-artist commercial landlords? The world really would be a better place. I pormise.

Dance company saved at 11th hour

Paint fumes wafted through the lobby Wednesday as 13-year-old girls twisted their bodies in the next room to the sound of violins and cellos blasting from speakers.

Their parents painted walls while the girls danced. It would take a furious effort to learn the routines before performances today and Sunday.

But it was the only way, really, because Moving Arts dance studio — a nonprofit dance company for professionals, children and teens — was kicked out of its studio theater on Whitman Road in Concord on June 1. They were given six weeks to leave. The dancers thought they'd have to close for good, after being in Concord since 1996.

I love a happy ending.
