The director of the Sydney Dance Company (as of Oct. 2), Tanya Liedtke, was killed on Friday when she was hit by a truck. She was just 29:

VERY sad news - she has just be named recently to take over the company, so this leaves a big gap for one of the most innovative and talent filled contemporary companies around today. My heart goes out to the company and Ms. Liedtke's partner
It sounds like she tried to dart across the street against the light - as all of us sometimes do - and may not have not look carefully enough to have seen the truck. I've had a couple of close calls here in Edinburgh and know that all it takes is one moment's lapse of attention.
