OtherDance festival Performances bring together art and dance to fill a warehouse

For choreographer, dancer and yoga instructor Biba Bell (who performs with a group under the name Urisov), it was time to take dance out of the theater and mix it up with art.

"It's the same venues for most dance productions," Bell said. "I wanted to press the boundaries of how people view dance, in conjunction with visual art and film. I wanted to bring it out of the theater vacuum, that kind of contained environment."

To that end, Bell has curated the OtherDance festival, a two-day happening that takes place in big, open warehouses -- Warehouse 1310 in San Francisco this weekend and Oakland's Lobot Gallery next weekend.
