FOR nearly 20 years Lindsey Butcher has been honing her skills as dancer and aerialist. Capitalising on that fusion, her company Gravity & Levity has been launched with an ambitious programme of live performance and film that tours until June 25.

Taking Flight is a classy, unpretentiously high-concept evening. Although Butcher’s elegant strength is the focal point, she has roped in some fine collaborators.

Taking Flight

An aerial dance installation performance, conceived by Lindsey Butcher and performed by her newly-formed company, Gravity and Levity, received its world premiere at the Lowry before embarking on a nationwide tour.

Created in collaboration with six directors and choreographers, including Flick Fenando, Yael Flexer, Matilda Leyser, Mish Weaver and Fin Walker of Walker Dance Park Music, its format takes shape through three live pieces of aerial dance and three aerial dance films.
