Former and present ballet dancers create a benefit performance

Stærekassen
Sunday, 26 February 2pm and 4:30pm

Ticket sales for the benefit performance have begun

Former ballet stars and current dancers of the Royal Dance Ballet combine for a performance in aid of the Royal Danish Ballet’s private pension fund.

August Bournonville took, in 1860, the initiative to establish a private pension fund for the benefit of his dancers. The pension fund has existed continually and has every year been distributed to pensioned dancers from the Royal Danish Ballet.

In order to obtain more money for the fund, there will be a performance at Stærekassen, where all the performers appear for free. All the income goes to the private pension fund.

On the stage the performers include a lineup of former stars from the ballet like Kirsten Bundgaard, Inge Juul Hansen, Anne Marie Dybdal, Tommy Frishøi, Niels Kehlet, Palle Jacobsen and many more.
From the active dancers the list includes Kirsten Simone, Lis Jeppesen, Jette Buchwald, Gudrun Bojesen, Caroline Cavallo, Gitte Lindstrøm, Tina Højlund, Diana Cuni, Mads Blangstrup, Morten Eggert and Nicolai Hansen.

Flemming Ryberg has the major role in the program, and help with instruction from Eva Kloborg and Anne Marie Vessel Schlüter.

The idea for the program is to mix old and new: to see again ballets that have not been performed recently and take high points from today’s repertoire.

It opens with a minuet and the childrens’ dance from ‘Elverhøj’ and thereafter following the world’s oldest ballet, Vincenzo Galeottis ‘Amors and Balletmesterens Luner’. This charming and amusing ballet was created in 1786, but has not been danced in quite a few years. Now Flemming Ryberg has newly prepared it for the opportunity. There will also be dances from August Bournonville’s “Fjernt fra Danmark’ and Arthur Saint-Léons ‘Coppelia’, which also has not been danced for a while.

There will also be a pas de deux from John Neumeier’s ‘Romeo og Julie’, which was just performed for full houses, and also there will be a sample of Tim Rushton’s new work ‘Requiem’.

Tickets are 250 kroner.

Kirsten Simone, Lis Jeppesen, Jette Buchwald, Gudrun Bojesen, Caroline Cavallo, Gitte Lindstrøm, Tina Højlund, Diana Cuni, Mads Blangstrup, Morten Eggert, og Nicolai Han-sen.

Billetterne koster kr. 250,-.
