Wheeldon's Swan Lake flew all the way to France, as a critic was recently released http://www.dansesaveclaplume.com/en-scene/le-lac-des-cygnes-selon-christopher-wheeldon-au-pennsylvania-ballet-de-philadelphie/. If you don't read French, pictures are pretty attractive. You can feel the Degas influence in the plot and scenery.

To sum up : the article says the "youthful and vigorous" Pennsylvania Ballet ( which saw principal dancer Zachary Hench retire that night) should be oriented to classical ballet along with Angel Corella - former ABT principal - 's taking office. And Wheeldon proved clever in his vision of the once sacrosanct Swan Lake ballet.
