The Joyce Theater in New-York has invited the French Ballet Biarritz Thierry Malandain, to celebrate the theater’s twenty fifth anniversary, by showing « Le Portrait de l’Infante » and « L’Amour Sorcier ».
It is the third time the Ballet Biarritz is presenting a ballet at the Joyce Theater.
These ballets, both choreographed by Thierry Malandain, were created in March 2008 and have already been presented in France and in other countries in Europe, with a huge success. Malandain is considered as the most important neoclassical choreographer in France. One of his ballets « L’Envol d’Icare » is in the repertory of the National Opera of Paris.
The staging of « Le Portrait de l’Infante » has large sculptures by the artist Manolo Valdès who is based in New-York. The composition is by Maurice Ravel and for « L’Amour Sorcier » by Manuel de Falla.
Those two powerful and sumptuous works are brimming with sensuality and interpreted by outstanding dancers.
An intense and emotion-laden production!
