My concern is that too often, people with great experience and talent in the for-profit business world fail to understand the ways in which the not-for-profit arts world is different.

I'd hate to see the main -- or even worse, the only -- criterion be what would draw best at the box office. By that measure alone, pole dances would do better than Balanchine.
