Image
Hans Knill of NDT rehearses dancers of Les Grand Ballets Canadiens for Symphony of Psalms, which opens on Thursday.
Photo: PHIL CARPENTER
Les Grands Ballet Canadiens continue to acquire a rep that must be the envy of companies worldwide. Their forthcoming 'Great Europeans' programme includes works by Forsythe, Duato and Kylian (golly gosh!). The Kylian work is 'Symphony of Psalms', which we saw in London last year, performed by NDT I. Some found this work from the 70s, old fashioned, but I thought it very beautiful indeed. It went on to win The 1999 Olivier Award for work new to London.
This article is based round an interview with Hans Knill, who is teaching the Kylian work to the Company.

http://www.montrealonline.com/performArts/pages/000506/4056153.html

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited May 12, 2000).]
