This NY Times article will only last for a day:

The gist is that Boston Ballet has announced the departure in June 2001 of Anna-Marie Holmes as artistic director of the company, a position she assumed in 1997 after a long association with the company.
There was a newspaper report that she had been forced out by the Director Geoffrey Babcock, but she said, "That's not true. We've asked for a retraction."
Ms. Holmes, was an internationally known ballerina in the 1960's and 70's.
Anyone, including out readers from the Boston area, know more about this or have any thoughts about Ms Holmes?
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited 01-03-2000).]

Oh my. She was only recently mentioning, in a live chat on Voice of Dance, her strategic planning for placing emphasis on male dancers in Boston's school.
She also seemed progressive in wanting to use works by young choreographers, like Christopher Wheeldon and Val Caniparoli.
In response to one of my questions, she described her rise through the ranks at Boston Ballet, making her way from ballet mistress to finally Artistic Director.
Here is the full transcript of the chat:
